i'm new around here, but i've been browsing the site the last few days in hopes of finding the answer to the situation i've been going through, so hopefully you can help me.
i met this girl in highschool, but never really spoke with her until about a year after i graduated.
she's three years younger (however it's legal where i'm from, don't fret) and still a teenager.
Patrick, i suggested that because according to you she has the appearance of doubting it all but going along for family and friends.
Several points:
She will know about sites like this one and that JWs should NOT be looking here, her reaction positive or neagtive should be informative.
She will see your words and the replies and again her reaction postive or negative should be informative.
If you are afraid of the possible response then you already know the answer it seems.
well guys, i finally got back from the dc or whatever it's called nowadays.
it wasn't really as bad as i expected but still, it was pretty bad.
the first interesting thing happened on the road.
as the convention season is upon many of us, i recall my first assembly that we attended during the very beginning of our questioning if this religion that we were raised in was 'right'.
by really listening to the talks and observing the behavior of the other attendees, we came away that weekend with real focus on uncovering the realities of being one of jehovah's witnesses.. i had, for many years, issues with some basic organizational practices and customs : turning in a time slip, counting hours, re-hashing material over and over, dress and grooming rules, congregational politics/favoritism/discrimination, the 'judicial committee', etc.. at the same time we were researching the history of the watchtower and it's core beliefs : what were the origins of the belief in a paradise earth, the faithful and discreet slave, and (most importantly) the watchtower's chronology/dating that leads to the 1914 conclusion.. to all who are in the beginning of this process, i recommend you keep it simple.
take one topic or issue at a time and prove to yourself that the watchtower's stance is biblical.
Just allow yourself to question.
That in itself is a first step. Then gradually follow thru and allow yourself to question EVERYTHING.
- if you have a problem with someone in the congregation -it's your fault.
- only brothers have the immorality problem.
- brothers have 4 main vices on his mental shelf.
Just quit and save yourself the mindf*ck that is regularly dished out.
It really is win win to just stop.

The watches have a pair of big black cocks on the dial, so nothing wrong with the description or title from where i sit.
What annoys me is (well several things actually) when they put "my old xyz tat NOT uber model blah blah blah" in the title so it gets more hits because the parts after the NOT are common search terms.
Also really annoying is searching for something or some category regularly like I do by distance from your area and some poxy local business always has literally 1000s of items listed that you have to wade thru in that category.

the subject has got me wondering.. they say buddha when he got enlightened under the the bodhi tree after vowing not to stop meditating untill he reached his goal/enlightenment.durring this momentous time he experienced a billion past lives.. what i'm thinking is that these people that experience this type of enlightenment are reading thier junk dna, which is a file of their evolutionary past that is encoded in the turned off genes of junk dna which is really a step by step recording of our evolutionary past that gets turned on briefly durring our formation in the womb from a one celled organism to a new born baby.. so i think just as their is an evolutionary process to build a human being starting from conception to a fully grown human built into our dna filing system that gets turned on durring conception, and that this proceess is what one is experiencing when one like the buddha meditates himself into an altered state of conciousness and has the experience of having lived many past lives..
